Book Microneedling

What Is Microneedling?

Microneedling, also called collagen induction therapy, uses tiny, sterile needles to create controlled microchannels in the skin. This activates your skin's natural repair process and supports new collagen and elastin production over time.

At Oak Haus, we use SkinPen®, an FDA-cleared microneedling device designed to improve the appearance of facial acne scars in adults and neck wrinkles. We choose it for its safety, precision, and consistency.

Microneedling can help improve the look of texture, acne scarring, fine lines, pores, uneven tone, and overall skin quality. For a more regenerative approach, we can pair microneedling with PRFM or (plated)™ exosome serums to support healing, recovery, and skin renewal after treatment.

What Microneedling Can Treat

SkinPen microneedling is one of the most versatile skin treatments available – addressing a broad range of concerns on the face, neck, and body.

Acne Scars

Microneedling supports collagen remodeling over time, helping soften the appearance of acne scars and improve overall skin texture.

Fine Lines & Wrinkles

By stimulating collagen and elastin production, microneedling helps improve skin firmness and soften the appearance of fine lines over time.

Large Pores

Collagen stimulation around pores helps refine skin texture and minimize the appearance of enlarged pores.

Uneven Skin Texture

Microneedling helps improve rough texture, surface irregularities, and overall skin smoothness by supporting healthy skin renewal.

Stretch Marks

Microneedling is one of the few effective non-laser options for stretch mark reduction – stimulating collagen to remodel and improve the texture and color of stretch marks on the body.

Overall Skin Quality

Even without a specific concern, microneedling can improve overall skin quality, leaving skin looking smoother, firmer, brighter, and more refreshed.

What to Expect at Your Appointment

A typical microneedling treatment takes about 60–90 minutes, including numbing time. Most patients benefit from a series of treatments spaced 4–6 weeks apart, depending on their skin concerns and goals.

Numbing

A topical numbing cream is applied for 30–45 minutes to ensure you are comfortable during the treatment.

Treatment

The SkinPen is passed over the treatment area in multiple directions to ensure consistent coverage. Sessions typically take 20–30 minutes.

Regenerative Add-Ons

Microneedling can be paired with PRFM or Plated™ exosomes to support healing, enhance recovery, and amplify overall skin rejuvenation.

Recovery

Redness for 24–48 hours similar to a mild sunburn. Keep skin moisturized and avoid sun exposure. Most patients return to normal activities the next day.

Collagen Builds

Results develop gradually over 4–6 weeks as new collagen is produced. Full results from a complete series are typically visible 3 months after your last session.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does microneedling hurt?

With topical numbing applied beforehand, most patients experience only mild pressure and a scratching sensation rather than pain. Areas near bony prominences (forehead, cheekbones) may be more sensitive. Our team takes their time with numbing to ensure your comfort throughout.

Why SkinPen over other microneedling devices?

SkinPen is the only microneedling device cleared by the FDA – a distinction that required rigorous clinical safety and efficacy data. Its closed-cartridge design prevents cross-contamination, its precision-controlled depth and speed ensures consistent treatment, and its clinical track record surpasses devices that have not undergone the same regulatory scrutiny.

How many sessions will I need?

For general skin quality and fine lines, 3 treatments are often sufficient. For acne scarring, 4–6 sessions spaced 4–6 weeks apart typically delivers optimal results. Your provider will assess your concerns and recommend the appropriate treatment course at your consultation.

Is microneedling safe for all skin tones?

Yes. Unlike laser treatments, microneedling does not use heat or light energy that can affect melanin – making it safe and effective for all Fitzpatrick skin types, including darker skin tones that may not be candidates for laser resurfacing.

Should I add PRFM or exosomes to my microneedling?

Often, yes. PRFM or exosome therapy can be paired with microneedling to support healing, recovery, and overall skin rejuvenation. Your provider will recommend the best regenerative option based on your skin goals and treatment plan.
